“Revenge of the Dreamers III” Album Review
A monumental moment for music.
Nothing Short of Perfection
Dreamville just released the highly anticipated album, Revenge of the Dreamers III, which proves to be nothing short of perfection. The album features some of music’s most prominent artists such as Da Baby, Yung Nudy, Buddy, and T.I. The eighteen-track collection is unlike anything the music industry has seen before. The album’s creation entailed a ten-day camp at Atlanta’s very own Tree Sound Studios. JCole personally invited artists from all over the world to participate on the album, which social media referred to as a “golden ticket.”
Fresh and Authentic
No track is similar, and each song introduces you to the world of the track’s feature artist and a variety of fresh and authentic sounds. The album begins with “Under The Sun” ft. DaBaby, one of the hottest rappers right now. This track is DaBaby’s only feature, but he leaves his mark. His fast signature flow and boastful mentions of women and himself make for a perfect intro to the album. JID makes his presence known throughout the entire album. He is featured on the album’s most popular songs, including number two, “Down Bad,” which was pre-released as a single.
Controversial, Complex, and Personal
One of the album’s more controversial songs is “Lambo Truck” ft. Cozz, REASON, and Childish Major. The lyrics to “Lambo Truck” describe a bank robbery where they scheme to rob Cole. “Swivel” feat. EarthGang is the fourth track on the album and introduces a more complex sound. Other popular songs on the album are “Wells Fargo,” “Ladies, Ladies, Ladies,” and “Sacrifices.” “Sacrifices” is the final track on the album, featuring JCole, Smino, and Saba. This track proves to be significant as JCole announces the arrival of his second child. Fans quickly took to Twitter to congratulate him in excitement.
The Vitality of Creativity
The album provides listeners with the induced Dreamville sound by incorporating singer-songwriter, R&B, and even trap music. Dreamville sets the tone for healthy competition, and with the backing of Cole, reminds rap culture of how vital the creation process is. Before its release, a twenty-nine-minute mini-documentary about the album appeared, which gave fans the leisure of watching how it came about.
Cole is revolutionary in changing the way music is not only heard but viewed. He gives artists opportunities to participate on tracks with their competitors, friends, and maybe even strangers. If you’re a student of culture like me, I know you’ll enjoy it.
